Legal AI for Lawyer Efficiency: Research, Drafting and Document Analysis

Measure legal AI research and drafting with reviewed task outcomes, product-specific examples and no assumed savings or local-law coverage.

Legal AI productivity should be measured across the complete task: preparation, generation, source checking, correction and final approval. This guide does not claim that work universally falls from hours to minutes or that any percentage saving has been demonstrated for local clients.

Measure useful work rather than output volume

Pick one repeatable task and document a manual baseline. Run the same task with the proposed product edition using permitted material. Record total reviewer time, incorrect citations, omissions, edits and whether the final result is acceptable.

For research, verify the relevant authority and jurisdiction. For summaries, check the important facts and exceptions against the original. For first drafts, inspect the factual assumptions and governing-law implications. Treat clause extraction, visualisation, version comparison and automated monitoring as separate features to demonstrate, not guaranteed capabilities of every legal AI product.

Do not infer Cyprus, Greece or Malta coverage from general international marketing. Confirm the named source and language required for the task. A reviewer may need official local sources even when the product handles a useful drafting or summarisation step.

Illustrative product example: a reviewed legal memo

Evaluate Lexis+ AI for a research answer or summary in its available collection, then Lexis Create for drafting within Microsoft 365. Measure the finished, reviewed memo rather than the first generated paragraph. This scenario is not a documented customer outcome and does not establish automated local-regulator monitoring or guaranteed return on investment.
